Byrne Bennett is a retired federal agent and the nephew of World War Two Medal of Honor recipient Joe E. Mann, the hero of The Battle at Best, which occurred during Operation Market Garden. As an experienced investigator, Byrne has spent the last decade researching his uncle’s life, culminating in the writing of the historical fiction novel, A Greater Destiny.
Byrne graduated from Willamette University with a degree in Political Science and received his Master’s Degree in Education from Western Oregon University. He has visited The Netherlands six times and has walked in his uncle’s footsteps from the drop zone where he landed as a paratrooper to the foxhole where he died.
Byrne and his wife Denise, along with their horse, dogs, chickens, goats, and a rabbit, live on a wheat farm near where his uncle was raised in Reardan, Washington.
