The Little Prince and Fox were plunged into darkness when they landed in a cave in Voltaine. Soon the Little Prince attached a small lantern around Fox’s neck and they began to make their way through the cavern where they could see a sliver of the moon hiding behind some clouds. As the stars twinkled in the sky, they looked down on a strange landscape dotted with mushroom like stones that were speckled with caverns just like the one they found themselves in. The dark was spooky, but the Little Prince sensed they were not alone. “Hmm ... I think there’s something in those rocks.” As soon as he held Fox up to shine some light on the situation ... poof! They found a giant eyeball staring at them. Eeeeah!

It wasn’t the only one as the duo soon found clusters of the Globes surrounding them. The Little Prince and the Fox were under attack! They began to run and the Little Prince quickly used his magic sword to create a magical bird so they could fly away. The Globes were persistent, but soon Little Prince and the Fox found themselves hovering over a village filled with light. “What a strange town,” the Little Prince declared, “It’s not that late. But the streets are already deserted.” They began to knock on doors to ask for assistance, but as soon as they opened the doors were slammed in their faces.

One thing was for sure and that was that the evil Snake was not far away. When they knocked on Fovea’s door she quickly pulled them inside. Laudion was trying to sell her a special lamp, adding that her “son will be free from danger once and for all.” He was certain that the Globes would turn them all to stone. Perhaps it was too late, too late for young Felix and Fox when later the Little Prince discovered they had both turned to stone during the night. Fear had gripped the town and the Gloomies had returned even stronger than ever. Could the Little Prince go up against the evil Snake without Fox? Was it going to be too late for Voltaine, for the Little Prince himself?

This is the exciting tale of the Little Prince and the Fox who once again try to foil the evil Snake on Voltaine. The Globes are now attacking the villagers of Voltaine because the light is disturbing them. The Little Prince, along with Fox, has to figure out who is under Snake’s influence by causing problems on the planet. This is a fast-paced, graphic novel that will excite young readers, especially reluctant ones interested in fantasy. The artwork is stunning and the fantasy panels will have definite appeal to the young reader. In the back of the book is a short story, “The Little Prince,” as imagined by Olivier Supiot, a brief biographical sketch of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, and a brief discussion about the series, and the adaptation.

Quill says: The Star Snatcher’s Planet is the sixth in a new series about the Little Prince, a graphic novel that is sure to excite young fantasy readers!
