From award-winning author E.A. Coe comes his fifth full-length novel, Survive the Day, that tells the story of FBI Special Agents Doug Hill and Marina Butnari as they work to take down a heinous human trafficking ring.
Special Agents Doug Hill and Marina Butnari, based out of the Reno Resident Office of the FBI, have been assigned to an elite task force named Operation Night Landing, whose mission is to dismantle a notorious human trafficking ring. The international crime organization dominating some of the world’s most lucrative criminal activities, Santu, is believed to be a leading participant in this trafficking ring.
As Hill and Butnari investigate deeper into the intricate web that makes up this nefarious human trafficking ring, their significant others find themselves also getting pulled into the crosshairs, through no fault of their own. The leaders of this trafficking ring do not think twice about harming innocent civilians if it will help them reach their goal, and that is exactly what they intend to do when they set out to kidnap and eliminate Hill’s wife, Henrietta, and Butnari’s partner, Tati. Hill and Butnari continue to keep their sights set on taking down the trafficking ring, but during their investigation, they encounter many surprising clues, unexpected events, and many more players in the crime organization than anticipated, all of which lead them in different directions. While maintaining the secrecy that their prestigious positions demand, they must also look out for their significant others to help ensure their safety until the explosive conclusion of the investigation.
With Survive the Day, Coe has not only written a gripping crime thriller, but he has also thoroughly developed the characters and the relationships they build during the course of the story. Readers get the best of both worlds, with riveting twists and turns that will keep them guessing until the last page is turned. In addition to the intriguing plot, the character development and the relationships between the characters are second to none. We meet supporting characters in the first chapter of the story that comes full circle and surface again at the end, bringing their journeys to an extremely satisfying conclusion. The main characters are so real and raw and experience such internal conflicts as they struggle with their own personal morals and ethics, often questioning what is right and wrong as they toil to catch the bad guys.
The level of suspense and action in Survive the Day will keep readers on the edge of their seats, cheering Hill and Butnari along as they consistently face danger throughout the story. The tale is cleverly written and complex, with a plot that moves quickly and will thoroughly entertain its readers. The issue of human trafficking that Coe explores is one that is, unfortunately, present in our society today, and he depicts it accurately and ethically.
Quill says: With Survive the Day, Coe has crafted an action-packed, thrilling crime story, complete with unexpected twists and turns, that will keep readers engrossed from the beginning until the last page has been read.
