A fantastic story about an irresistible Irish Setter is the first book in a new children’s series by debut author Dawn Secord that dog lovers of all ages will want to check out.
A beautiful Irish Setter named Bling is enjoying a nap when her family, Dani, Mitchell, and their mom, head out to visit Grandma. After “her people” leave, Bling is woken up by a loud Kabooom! Bling jumps up and nervously asks, “Whaaaaat is ttttttthat?”
Bling is convinced that there is something in the house. What could it be? A mouse? A bee? Or maybe it’s a ghoulish green monster! Yikes! While Bling is afraid, she knows that she must make the house safe before her family returns. She bravely checks the kids’ bedrooms and then, with encouragement from her best friend, Sushi the goldfish, she continues the search.
Bling checks the kitchen and while she doesn’t find the creature that is making the scary noise, she does notice that her treat jar has been opened and there are treats all over the floor. That rules out a bee, reasons Bling. Suddenly hearing another noise, Bling continues her search, becoming more and more convinced that it must be a ghoulish green monster. Will Bling be able to find the creature that is making all that noise? And is it really a ghoulish green monster?
No Ghoulish Green Monsters Here is a unique and very fun story about a sweet and beautiful Irish Setter and her best friend, Sushi the goldfish. With encouragement from Sushi, Bling gathers up all her courage to find the culprit who is responsible for all the noise, as well as making a mess all over the house. Kids will be kept guessing as each page is turned, trying to figure out if the perpetrator really is a monster. The suspense builds until the secret is revealed, at which point, children will likely squeal in delight. The author, Dawn Secord, is also the illustrator, and her artwork is absolutely gorgeous. The story is based on her real dog Bling, and the love she obviously has for her dog shines through in each illustration. Whether a dog lover, animal lover, or just a lover of great stories, be sure to check out No Ghoulish Green Monsters Here. Your child will undoubtedly want the story read to them again and again.
Quill says: I can’t wait to get my hands on Bling’s next adventure. In the meantime, I’ll be sharing No Ghoulish Green Monsters Here with all my animal-obsessed nieces and nephews. Add it to your child’s reading list!
