Dachshunds: Lightweights Littermates is a book filled to the brim with adorable photographs of dachshund puppies. Each page is certain to evoke “oohhs” and “aahhs” from the reader. Great expressions on the puppies and clever backgrounds all add to the charm of this book.

There are several different litters of dachshund puppies showcased in this book. Photographer Sharon Montrose first features the litter together, some with sad, pleading for attention eyes, others with irresistible, ‘pick me up and love me’ expressions. These litter pictures are followed by photos of each individual puppy placed on a scale, with their name and weight.

Dachshunds: Lightweights Littermates is a quick flip-through book, perhaps taking five to ten minutes to browse. Montrose is a talented photographer and her work is revealing. She is able to capture the instant a puppy is at his cutest, and pleading eyes like those of “Reesa” say more than any text ever could. The only exceptions to this were several photos where Montrose elected to crop the top of a puppy’s head. This technique destroyed the appeal of those photos, particularly the one of “Mole” who had his head cropped so that even a portion of one eye was missing. The other disappointment was the repetitiveness of the listed weights of each puppy. All weights were within a pound of each other and after five or so pages of 1 lb. 8 ozs, 2 lbs. 4 ozs, etc., I stopped reading the weights as it added nothing to the enjoyment of the book.

Quill says: A sweet book for the dachshund lover.
