Som Phin is a Cambodian-American author of more than thirty-five novels spanning historical fiction, literary fiction, fantasy, and romantasy. Born in the Khao-I-Dang refugee camp and raised in California, she writes stories rooted in Khmer history, mythology, culture, identity, and the experiences of the Cambodian diaspora.
Her work explores family, belonging, intergenerational memory, and the stories that survive across borders and generations. Through her fiction, she hopes to preserve and celebrate Cambodian culture beyond narratives of war and survival, bringing Khmer mythology, history, traditions, and everyday life to readers through stories of love, family, and adventure.
Her books include What My Khmer Father Couldn’t Say: A Story of Survival and Presence, The Dancer’s Shadow, The Naga Sisters Chronicles, The Lotus Between Worlds series, and Threads of Jasmine: When Jasmine Blooms at Midnight. Her work has received recognition from Publishers Weekly/BookLife and Kirkus Reviews and has been featured in libraries and media across the United States. She resides in the Bay Area with her family.
