Mark Brandenburg was raised in Mansfield, Texas, with a passion for football and reading. After graduating from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, Mark was hired as a police officer for the Olathe, KS, Police Department (a suburb of Kansas City). After 5 years with the Olathe PD, Mark was brought on by the United States Secret Service as a special agent where he has served for the past 22 years. During this time, Mark served on the Presidential Protective Division during the President Barack Obama administration and as a supervisory special agent on the Vice Presidential Protective Division during Vice President Mike Pence’s tenure.
Drawing on his law enforcement experience and extensive career at the centers of power in Washington, DC, Mark penned his debut novel, Fence Jumper. It is a story that turns the political thriller on its head as it incorporates humor and satire to reflect the current state of affairs in the nation’s capitol. Recently, Fence Jumper won the 2024 Feathered Quill Books Awards program Gold/1st place award in the Adult Fiction category.
Mark resides with his wife of 22 years, Melissa, who is a kindergarten teacher. Their son, Will, attends Virginia Tech as a member of the Corps of Cadets with plans to be commissioned in the US Army upon graduation. When home, Will routinely trounces his father at golf.
