Heidi’s childhood with three siblings provided lots of fodder for storytelling. She lived in a variety of states, France, Germany, and England, which inspired some of the humorous moments in Pigs and Flakes.

The best way she got to know teenagers was as a high school English teacher for eleven years and school administrator for eighteen. Her love of teenagers motivated her to write about online bullying, resilience, and how nature heals.

Heidi, retired since 2022, wrote a screenplay based on Pigs and Flakes, which earned a place in 2024 The Hot 100 List, in the Capital Fund Screenwriters Competition.
