Fred M. Kray is a former trial lawyer who specialized in animal law and won the American Bar Association’s coveted Excellence in the Advancement of Animal Law Award in 2016. He has lectured on the subject, taught at the law school level, and coauthored an article for American Jurisprudence Proof of Facts. His love for Alydar started in Miami when he watched the horse run in the Flamingo Stakes and the Florida Derby. He spent four years investigating Alydar’s death. Kray now lives in Gainesville, Florida, with his wife and five dogs.
“A well-told book for the love of one of the most renowned racehorses and sires America has ever known. We see this horse and feel his spirit, courage, love, frustrations and fears. Kray is a gifted writer."
Avalyn Hunter, Author of Dream Derby
“The story told is compelling and worth of a place on the bookshelf of both students of horse racing history and fans of the true crime genre. It will certainly have an honored place on mine."
Garth Thomas, The Hollywood Digest
“The book has a break-neck pace...Worthy of a Martin Scorsese adaption."
Greg M.
“I never heard of Alydar until your book. That horse will now be in my heart for the rest of my life. One of the best books I ever read."
